A circular stroll in the Meon Valley, around this pretty village.

From the M27 J10 ( Use J11 to double back if coming from the west), take the A32 north and at the second roundabout, take the first exit, Bishops Waltham/ Botley. Proceed under railway bridge and turn right into the square. This is the starting point for your walk. There is a two hour limit to parking in the square, but there are car parks and on street parkind nearby.

From the square, turn left and cross the road, before the railway bridge on your right is Tanfield Lane. Follow the lane past the houses and open fields, as it bears right edging the golf course, then left between the links. You soon come upon a vineyard, turn left here at the wooden marker post, and cross over the style onto the disused Meon Valley railway track. After a hundred yards or so, there is another style on the right, cross this to re-enter the vineyard at it's far side.

Cross the stle in the trees to your left, and cross the field, ( Corn when we walked this one), until you reach a track, via yet another style in the trees. Turn left and follow to where it meets the busy Titchfield Lane, at "Little Acre". Turn left to follow the lane, be careful it can be very busy, especially at rush hour.
Shortly after passing Great Funtley Farm, on a right hand bend, is a footpath on the left.

Go through the five bar gate and cross the field, another gate leads you past some stables to a white cottage, which you pass to the right of, crossing a footbridge over the River Meon, and climbing through the trees, to a quiet lane, onto which you turn left.

Uphill and to the right behind an old tree, is a railway footbridge, which you pass over turning right, once across. In front of you and to your left are styles. Cross the one to the left and follow the tree lined path. Over the fields on the right and ahead, you can see, Fareham, The M27 and Portsdown Hill. The path ends at a T junction with a track. Turn left to follow this eventually by a couple of kissing gates emerging onto the access road to the Knowle Hospital housing development. Cross the road and go through the kissing gate on the other side, soon entering woodland. Follow the path, taking the right fork past the earth mounds, to pass under power lines. At the T turn left, and passing a five bar gate at Fiddlers Green, keep left handed until emerging onto Mayles Lane.

Turn right into the lane. At the main road, cross over and follow the gravel path ahead, turning left in a few yards to climb some steps onto the old railway line. Follow this right handed, until reaching a flight of steps, leading to the river on the left. Cross the footbridge and follow the gravel path through the water meadows, past Greens Pub and Restaurant, to the main road. Turn right and the square is on the right. Thus completing your walk.
